Rob Green, the former England and West Ham goalkeeper who will be on co-comms for the Champions League final, says there is only one team that can win the match: PSG. He insists it is not bias or romanticism but simple superiority — "PSG are too good." Arsenal, he adds, have been brilliant against mid- and lower-table teams but have not had a perfect run against the biggest sides.

His main takeaway from the season is that the new league phase has become more important. Arsenal’s route to the final, he suggests, was helped by the draw and moments such as Atletico’s poor showing and Barcelona’s red cards opening up that side of the bracket.

Timing matters too: PSG stumbled early in the campaign and then turned it on, and Green expects other teams to treat the league phase with greater urgency next season. The Bayern–PSG semi, he says, showcased coaches backing their teams’ strengths and PSG’s tactical adaptability, which sent a message to Arsenal about their ability to mix it up.
