Riot announces League of Legends Classic after leaks
Riot Games is working on League of Legends Classic, a new (old) version of the 16-year-old MOBA, after a rash of leaks in which dataminers revealed the game's existence and which champions will be playable. The reveal video offers little concrete information, instead showing Riot debating what a Classic version should be: a particular season trapped in amber, a specific build, a set of champions with older kits, or even a beta build.
The live-action trailer reads like an homage to the Pepe Silvia bit from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Executive producer Paul "Pabro" Bellezza suggests the plan might be fluid, potentially letting players decide which version of League they consider "classic." That would contrast with Blizzard's approach of releasing World of Warcraft Classic and classic expansions, and with Overwatch's classic modes.
Dataminers have dug up artwork and skins from the game's Public Beta Environment, but findings so far are inconclusive.
