Ridley Scott’s The Terror Returns with Season 3 Devil in Silver
At 88 years young, Sir Ridley Scott remains active, and the anthology he executive-produced, The Terror, has returned after a seven-year gap. The series first premiered on AMC in March 2018 and has evolved into a historical folk-horror showcase across three distinct chapters.
The debut season, developed by David Kajganich and loosely based on Dan Simmons's 2007 novel, follows a Royal Navy crew trapped in polar ice and stalked by a monster rooted in indigenous lore. Season 2, retooled by Alexander Woo and Max Borenstein as The Terror: Infamy, shifted to a haunted Japanese internment-camp story that explored Bakemono.
Critics rewarded Season 1 with a 94% Rotten Tomatoes score, Season 2 landed at 80%, and the new season has earned a 95% approval. Season 3, titled Devil in Silver, reduces the episode count from 10 to 6 and premiered on AMC+ and Shudder on May 7, 2026.
