Ridley Scott's Post-Apocalyptic Thriller 'The Dog Stars' Gets New Trailer

Ridley Scott has a new trailer for The Dog Stars, his post-apocalyptic action thriller starring Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin and Margaret Qualley. The film follows the aftermath of a deadly flu pandemic that has wiped out most of the human race and centers on an ex-pilot searching for a better life beyond mere survival.

The footage showcases action-packed sequences and gives a first look at Hig (Elordi) meeting Allison Janney's mysterious character as a violent new group closes in on his home. Josh Brolin plays ex-Marine Bangley and Margaret Qualley is Cima, a medic; Guy Pearce appears as Pops and Benedict Wong plays a farmer.

Jasper, Hig's dog, also features prominently, including an exhilarating sequence in which Hig attempts to get his plane off the ground. Scott directed from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith, adapting Peter Heller's 2012 novel. He has said he aimed for a strong feeling of hope rather than a grim tone, though the trailer doubles down on violence.
