Ricky Gervais Returns to Netflix With 'Alley Cats' Trailer
Ricky Gervais is back on Netflix with the first trailer for Alley Cats, an adult animated sitcom he created, wrote and stars in. The series follows a pack of feral British cats from across the social spectrum as they scrap and philosophize their way through everyday indignities.
Netflix will release the six 15-minute episodes on August 7. Animation comes from Blink Industries, the BAFTA-nominated UK studio behind Don't Hug Me I'm Scared and Dead End: Paranormal Park, working in a hand-drawn 2D style. Gervais co-directs with Elliot Dear, and the voice cast includes Tom Basden, Andrew Brooke, David Earl, Kerry Godliman, Jo Hartley, Diane Morgan, Natalie Cassidy and Tony Way.
The series extends a long-running partnership between Gervais and Netflix. After Life ran for three seasons, while his special Armageddon won a Golden Globe, earned a Grammy nomination and finished as the most-watched title on Netflix worldwide.
