Switch Sports Resort arrives this October with activities from archery and boxing to table tennis and thumb wrestling, but if you need something to tide you over the Nintendo 64’s Mario Golf is available via the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership — or you can dust off an old console and cartridge.

Originally released in June 1999, Mario Golf was developed by Camelot Software Planning and blended classic Nintendo golf with the light-hearted sensibilities popularized by Hot Shots Golf. The game helped secure Camelot’s future work on Nintendo hardware, including additional Mario Golf and Mario Tennis entries, after the studio’s earlier RPG efforts such as Shining Force and Golden Sun.

Players start with only a few mascots and one course unless they use a cheat, but the Expansion Pack edition expands the roster to 14 characters and adds six standard courses plus two mini-golf options. Characters vary in drive distance and strengths, with heavy hitters like Bowser and Wario changing how holes are approached.
