Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy swaps the dour, grim fairytale tone of Innocence and Requiem for sunlit Mediterranean ruins and a younger Sophia at the helm. In the fourth chapter — the entirety of the demo — she and her friend Leni arrive at a Minoan temple, using a prism to solve glyph puzzles and carving through enemy guards with high-impact swordplay while dodging battering rams and other blunt methods that threaten the site.

Asobo Studio set out to build a new third-person action franchise after being impressed by what Naughty Dog achieved, and the team deliberately shifted away from the exhausting emotional arc of Amicia and Hugo to something more dynamic. Sophia, a standout in Requiem, emerged late in development as a fitting protagonist for this change in tone, one that leans toward Uncharted and Tomb Raider with archaeological puzzles and treasure-seeking set pieces.
