Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy release date set for August 27, 2026

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, a prequel to the A Plague Tale series, will launch on August 27, 2026, a date revealed during today's Xbox showcase.

The game follows Sophia as she moves through Minotaur Island, shifting between the Middle Ages and ancient Minoan times. It tells a new story set 15 years before Sophia meets Amicia and Hugo and explores her origins.

Gameplay departs from the series' stealth focus in favour of more straightforward combat, with Sophia presented as a hardened fighter skilled in agile melee and parries. Puzzles remain a major element: guided by a notebook and following her crew’s footsteps, players will use a stolen Minoan sphere to manipulate light and unravel the island’s secrets and deadly trials, a force said to be woven into the island by Daedalus.

Trailers released so far have notably lacked rats, and with the release date approaching players will soon be able to see whether the prequel aligns with their expectations.
