At Summer Game Fest, Capcom announced it is remaking Resident Evil: Code Veronica. The new game, titled Resident Evil: Veronica, is scheduled for 2027. The trailer suggests a first-person perspective, showing Claire Redfield enter a Paris hotel where her brother Chris is staying, speak with an older French woman, and then be grabbed.

Code Veronica originally launched in 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast and is set a few months after Resident Evil 2. It follows Claire and Chris Redfield as they confront a virus spreading outside Raccoon City, and many fans regard it as the true Resident Evil 3.

It was the first Resident Evil to debut on a non-PlayStation console and helped expand the series' scope. Despite its importance, the game has at times felt like a forgotten stepchild.

Capcom announced the remake is being rebuilt from the ground up. Resident Evil: Veronica will launch on consoles and PC in 2027, a move that has generated enthusiasm among long-time series fans.
