I replaced my iPhone battery at the Apple Store and learned a lesson

After about three years of use my iPhone 14 Pro’s battery had fallen to roughly 72% of its original capacity and the phone no longer held a reliable charge. I checked the battery status at Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging and followed Apple’s prompts to schedule service.

Apple contacted me to say the battery was significantly degraded, and the Settings menu let me book an appointment at a local Apple Store within days. The estimated cost for a 14 Pro replacement was $99. At the store staff ran diagnostics, asked me to turn off Bluetooth and location services, and to sign in with my Apple ID and passcode.

They confirmed the phone was otherwise in good condition, replaced the battery the same day, and returned the phone in under two hours; the new maximum capacity showed 100% and my total after tax was $105.94. The repair restored usable battery life and felt like an affordable fix compared with buying a new phone — saving me what would have been more than $1,000.
