Jack Grealish’s productive loan at Everton was cut short by a foot injury that required surgery, ending his season in mid-January and ruling him out of the World Cup. He had started brightly, winning the Premier League Player of the Month award in August and providing a flurry of assists before the injury.

Peter Reid said he admires Grealish’s personality — calling him “top drawer” and describing the attention around him “having a pint” as “quite refreshing” — and believes the 30-year-old still offers something on the pitch. Reid floated the idea of using him as a central number 10 but warned that Manchester City’s £50 million asking price, set in the loan agreement, is too high for a player who will turn 31 in September.

Reid also praised Everton’s recent recruitment, highlighting Iliman Ndiaye’s creative spark and strong showing against Manchester City, and commending Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and James Garner as good footballers. He added that Garner had been unlucky not to make the World Cup squad.
