Real Madrid target Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate before World Cup
Real Madrid are seeking a new right-back to challenge Trent Alexander-Arnold next season and are also pursuing Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate. The club hope to finalise both signings before the World Cup begins. Alexander-Arnold endured a mixed debut season, sharing right-back duties with Dani Carvajal, who will leave when his contract expires on June 30.
He made 30 appearances, provided five assists in 1,794 minutes and struggled with recurring muscle injuries; England manager Thomas Tuchel omitted him from the final World Cup squad in favour of Tino Livramento, prompting Madrid to look for a dependable alternative.
Denzel Dumfries has emerged as the prime candidate to compete for the position. The Netherlands international, set to play at the World Cup, is under contract at Inter until 2028, but the Italian club are reportedly willing to negotiate a low-cost departure. Dumfries scored five goals and added two assists in 28 appearances this season, and has 207 matches for Inter with 27 goals and 28 assists overall.
