Ranking Pixar's Films Ahead of Toy Story 5

Toy Story 5 is nearly out in theaters, so it’s a good moment to look back at the last 30 years of Pixar.

From the ’90s through the mid-2010s, Pixar led animated filmmaking with a run of dazzling creative output that inspired many to consider pivoting careers into animation.

The decade since has been uneven, and Pixar’s place at the top has felt tenuous. Disney’s internal animation studio picked up steam and has arguably eclipsed Pixar in cultural cachet, and some Pixar releases were relegated to Disney+ rather than getting theatrical runs after the covid-19 pandemic.

Pixar isn’t the cultural juggernaut it once was, but its portfolio of heartfelt stories and gorgeous animation remains impressive. Ahead of Toy Story 5’s release on June 19, here’s our ranking of Pixar’s feature films.
