Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino and pop star Kylie Minogue surprised residents of the seaside town of Porthcawl, population 16,000, after being spotted filming together over the weekend. A local outlet said locals were "rubbing their eyes in disbelief" as the pair filmed in several locations, reportedly "shooting scenes of a funeral at Newton Church and a wake at the Saltwater Inn." Members of the Porthcawl Male Choir appeared in some scenes, and a choir member shared details on a community Facebook group.

The project is directed by Welsh filmmaker Jamie Adams, a Porthcawl resident, and features a cast of Welsh actors. Tarantino was also seen at a hotel in Cardiff on Friday. Tarantino previously worked with Adams on Only What We Carry, which debuted earlier this month at the Tribeca Festival and also featured Simon Pegg and Charlotte Gainsbourg; that film was shot in six days in France.
