Developers at Quantic Dream have gone on strike to oppose impending layoffs, saying the narrative-driven Star Wars Eclipse "cannot be finished" if 115 developers are let go. The studio behind Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human announced Star Wars Eclipse at The Game Awards 2021 but has not discussed the game much since.

In February 2026 Quantic Dream launched a MOBA called Spellcasters Chronicles, which flopped and was taken offline earlier this month. In the wake of that shuttering, Quantic Dream reportedly plans to carry out a round of layoffs affecting 115 workers, and several employees walked out this past week when Lucasfilm representatives visited to check on the game's progress.

Those on strike told Gamekult that development of the Star Wars game can't be completed if over 100 developers are let go. "We believe that, as things stand, the game literally cannot be finished if the redundancy plan is implemented as currently scheduled," a developer named Theo said to Gamekult.
