Filip Raczyński is in his late 20s and living the high life: modelling jobs, vodka and Diet Coke for breakfast, club backrooms and nights that end with naked handsome men. He drifts through this lifestyle with a roguish charm, but his behaviour frays the patience of those around him — his agent’s assistant Olek must cover for his lateness, and Filip’s sister Anka, a single mother to one‑year‑old Tosia, is fed up with him crashing at their flat.

The series pivots when Anka dies and Filip is left caring for Tosia, eventually seeking to adopt her. It takes until the end of the first episode to reach that point, giving time to understand Filip so that his friends’ and family’s anger feels complicated rather than straightforward.

Set in Poland, the plot foregrounds cultural and legal obstacles to a gay man adopting a child; a solicitor bluntly warns Filip he needs “to stop being gay for some time.” Proud was conceived and directed by Karol Klementewicz and co‑written by him and Monika Pęcikiewicz.
