Ryan Gosling's Project Hail Mary has overtaken Scarlett Johansson's Jurassic World: Rebirth at the domestic box office, with Project Hail Mary at $343 million to Rebirth's $339 million. The 2026 sci‑fi adaptation centers on a stranded astronaut trying to save humankind and has been praised for its emotionally gripping lead and an engaging non‑human co‑star.

Jurassic World: Rebirth relaunched the franchise in 2025, casting Johansson as Zora Bennett leading scientists and survivors on an island of prehistoric creatures. The film earned $869.1 million worldwide and a 50% critical score, an improvement over the series' previous 47% and 28% ratings.

Project Hail Mary opened in theaters on March 20, 2026, and despite a recent digital premiere continues to draw audiences. It is available to rent or buy on Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home, and will arrive on MGM+ on June 18, 2026.
