Process, Patience and Timing: Reflections on the 2025-26 Season
When Arsenal finally lifted the Premier League trophy after years of scrutiny, it felt like a reminder that process, patience and timing can turn doubt into glory. I’d written at the end of 2025 about doubts and lessons; since then the biggest changes have been internal rather than visible progress on the surface.
Trusting the process has been hard. As an Inter fan I’ve seen rebuilding under Spalletti and foundations laid by Conte lead to three Scudetti, cup wins and two Champions League finals, yet the recent defeat by Paris Saint-Germain under Luis Enrique made me wonder whether patience was enough.
What struck me about Arsenal was a passage I read in The Athletic: “Years before Arsenal would become champions again, the club’s decision-makers identified what they believed could be a rare opportunity in the Premier League’s competitive cycle.” That kind of cycle thinking — preparation meeting a moment of opportunity — felt more important than the trophy itself.
