Princess Anne dusts off 42-year-old dress for royal banquet
Princess Anne, 75, rewore a 42‑year‑old gauzy pale yellow gown printed with pink blooms for the Master Mariners’ Centenary Banquet at London’s Guildhall on Thursday. The dress was last photographed during a 1984 trip to Gambia. Video captured her arrival at the black‑tie affair on the arm of her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence; she attended as a Past Master of the centuries‑old maritime guild, joined by her brother Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh.
On both outings she styled the gown with white opera gloves and a coordinating yellow clutch. It’s unclear whether the gold and pearl statement necklace from the 1984 version made a return. Fans took to X with praise: “Still fits it like a glove, such beauty and elegance,” one wrote.
“True beauty never ages,” added another. Anne is often noted for repeating outfits.
