Combining dark humor with a sharply written, layered crime narrative, Amazon Prime's The Outlaws unfolds like a Guy Ritchie‑esque caper. Created by Elgin James and Stephen Merchant, the series follows seven strangers sentenced to a court‑mandated Community Payback order who stumble on a bag of money and, unaware of the world of guns, drugs and organized crime it unlocks, are plunged into escalating danger.

The show ran for three seasons from 2021 to 2024 and drew praise for its sharp humor, character development and acting, particularly Christopher Walken and co‑creator Stephen Merchant, who earned a National Comedy Awards 2023 nomination for Outstanding Comedy Actor.

Merchant's Greg Dillard — an unsuccessful, socially inept lawyer rebuilding his life after divorce — supplies much of the comic awkwardness and an emotional throughline as he is pushed out of his comfort zone.
