Prime Video's eight-episode crime thriller Raakh, released on June 13, has quickly become one of the service's biggest streaming shows. Created by Anusha Nandakumar, Sandeep Saket and Prosit Roy, the series is inspired by the 1978 kidnapping and murder of siblings Geeta and Sanjay Chopra.

The drama fictionalizes many details but retains a powerful, at times hard-to-watch edge. Ali Fazal leads as investigating officer Jayprakash Jatav. Raakh opens with the disappearance of teenagers Saahil and Suman; what begins as an apparent kidnapping soon reveals evidence of something far more sinister.

Rather than following a routine police procedural, the show spends considerable time inside the minds of its two killers and traces the emotional toll on the victims' parents.
