The memory crisis has driven up prices across PC gaming and spilled over into standalone VR headsets. Earlier this year Meta raised the Quest 3 and Quest 3S to $600 and $350, respectively; a Prime Day offer on Amazon, closely tracked by Best Buy, brings the Quest 3S back near its original $297 MSRP.

The 3S shares the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor and 8 GB of RAM with the Quest 3, so it can run the same standalone games. If you prefer PCVR, the headset can also be connected via a USB Type-C cable.

It includes full-color passthrough and inside-out tracking for straightforward setup, though its Fresnel optics remain only so-so. First-time buyers will find the package complete, while more experienced users may favor headsets with pancake lenses and eye tracking.
