'Predator' Director Tackling Another Legendary Mythical Monster
At the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Dan Trachtenberg will direct an animated feature based on the graphic novel Freddy the 13th by Yehudi Mercado. The comic offers a playful mash-up of Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger, turning those icons into a parody where a man inadvertently brings down a version of both killers.
In the book, a horror‑obsessed, unlucky man accidentally kills the legendary slasher Nighty Night and inherits the monster’s mantle just as he must babysit his niece and nephew for thirteen nights. Rival killers emerge to seize the throne, sending him on a cross‑country drive to break the curse, protect his family and prove he’s finally good at something, even if it’s being evil.
