A new Powerpuff Girls movie is in the works

Warner Bros. Pictures Animation announced a new Powerpuff Girls movie during its presentation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, with Discussing Film reporting the news on X. No other details were shared.

The trio of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup debuted in 1998 with the animated series The Powerpuff Girls, which ran six seasons on Cartoon Network and inspired an origin-story theatrical film in 2002, The Powerpuff Girls Movie.

A 2016 animated reboot was widely panned despite running three seasons; an early review said the new show was "a step backward, not forward." A CW live-action reboot that entered development in 2020 was canceled in 2023 before a pilot aired and would have followed the characters in their 20s reuniting to save the world.

A trailer for the live-action show leaked in 2025 and was criticized as resembling a YouTube parody, and another reboot announced in 2022 with creator Craig McCracken attached has had little word since.
