Portugal player ratings vs Uzbekistan: Ronaldo leads 5-0 win

Portugal ran out 5-0 winners over Uzbekistan to record their first victory of the 2026 World Cup after opening with a draw against DR Congo. Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice, becoming his country's top goal-scorer in finals history and the first men's player to score at six different World Cups.

Ronaldo opened the scoring after six minutes with a powered half-volley from Joao Cancelo's cross. He then shaped to take a free-kick before Nuno Mendes stepped up and drilled a low effort into the bottom corner to double the lead. Uzbekistan had a goal from Azizjon Ganiev ruled out by VAR for a foul on Cancelo in the build-up.

Ronaldo sealed another with a finish from a Bruno Fernandes through-ball, while a Fernandes corner ricocheted off Abdukodir Khusanov for an own goal. A goal-line clearance from Khusanov denied Ronaldo a first-half hat-trick, and substitute Rafael Leao added a late strike to complete the scoring after Abduvohid Nematov had kept his side in check with several saves.
