Pokémon is marking its 30th anniversary in 2026 with a renewed focus on Kanto, the region that introduced Pikachu, the three starter Pokémon and the original 151 creatures that helped define the franchise. A leaked Instagram post showed an upcoming LEGO set titled Charizard vs.

Jolteon aimed at ages 8 and up. The leak lists 751 pieces and places the set in LEGO’s “Smart Play” line, including a smart charger, smart tags and smart bricks intended to simulate a battle between the two Pokémon. Collectors have expressed concerns about potential price, questioned the repeated focus on Charizard, and noted that Jolteon’s electric attacks present a difficult matchup for Charizard.

Kanto’s appeal remains strong: the first generation is still the best-selling era and served as the gateway for millions of fans, even as newer entries like Pokémon Sword and Shield and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet broadened the audience. The Charizard vs.
