Pokémon Legends: Z-A didn't get quite the same reception as its prequel, Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The city setting highlighted some of the visual and technical limitations in the subseries, and as a result it went down as a decent entry rather than a standout. Still, its multiplayer battling scene remains healthy, and season 12 — starting at 2 a.m.

EDT on Thursday, June 4 — will change the shape of the game by removing all restrictions on which Pokémon can be used. Any Pokémon in either the Lumiose Pokédex or the Hyperspace Pokédex will be eligible, including previously restricted legendaries and mythicals: Groudon, Kyogre, Mewtwo, Rayquaza, Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde.

Previous seasonal restrictions have ranged from banning all legendary and mythical Pokémon to allowing only those with mega evolutions or permitting just one restricted Pokémon per team.
