Polygon reports Pokémon Go’s "Precious Pals" event runs from Jan. 20–25 and introduces shiny Fidough as a new encounter. The event includes bonuses such as additional Candy XL with your buddy, more hearts earned with buddy Pokémon, and reduced evolution requirements for some featured creatures: Sylveon will require 20 buddy hearts, Pangoro will require 10 caught dark-type Pokémon, and Pawmot will need 5 km walked.

A $4.99 premium Timed Research set is available; the report says this set "isn't really worth it" unless players want the Heart Pose trainer cosmetic or more of the event spawns. The Timed Research rewards the Heart Pose cosmetic, a Fidough encounter and 3,000 Stardust. Two Collection Challenges — "In Knead of a Friend" and "Little Friends, Big Potential" — offer tasks including catching and evolving Fidough and catching Magikarp, Swablu, Wimpod and Stufful, each rewarding 5,000 XP, a Fidough encounter and 5,000 Stardust.

Spinning PokéStops may grant Field Research tasks that can lead to Fidough, Goldeen, Eevee or Pawmi encounters. The event blog post lists boosted wild spawns including Goldeen, Zorua, Espurr, Wimpod and Fidough, while some players report higher numbers of Magikarp, Eevee, Swablu, Pancham, Stufful and Pawmi.
