U.S. Soccer presented Mauricio Pochettino with a contract that could keep him as USMNT manager through the 2030 World Cup. The offer was made before the 2026 tournament, and his current deal runs until the end of that event. Pochettino has said he would consider staying on under the right conditions.

Both sides reportedly agreed to pause negotiations during the World Cup, with the team’s performance expected to influence his decision, according to The Athletic. U.S. Soccer CEO JT Batson said the federation has held extensive talks about what the next four years could look like but that focus remains on the summer.

Pochettino has repeatedly spoken of a desire for a second cycle and said he has turned down club approaches while committed to the national team. The U.S. won its first two group games and secured top spot in Group D before a stoppage-time loss to Turkiye, when Pochettino selected a side made up mostly of backups.
