Plugin makes Steam AI disclosures hard to miss and hides AI-aided games

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has criticized Valve's mandatory Steam disclosures for AI-generated content. A browser plugin called "AI warning for Steam", shared on Bluesky by Linux gamer and coder seeeeew, makes those disclosures far more prominent and can hide AI-aided games in Steam search results.

The plugin is available for Firefox and Chrome and is also listed on Github. Reports suggest workarounds may allow it to run inside the Steam client, though that has not been confirmed. The Chrome version was tested and works as described: when a store page includes any AI disclosure a pop-up appears on first load, and search results show AI-aided games blurred with a label reading "AI Generated Content Disclosure found." Many people discovered the plugin during Steam Next Fest, where Palworld lead John Buckley noted a growing number of entries using AI-generated images or assets.
