Plex adds social features as it raises lifetime Pass price
Plex has evolved from a personal media server into a streaming hub with ad-supported content and movie rentals. On Wednesday the company unveiled several social features intended to change how users interact with the platform, including Discussions, Lists, Match Score and Alerts.
Discussions is a community forum where users can post comments and talk about movies or TV shows, supported by a moderation system that blends AI and human input to review visual and written content. Lists let users create, manage and share collections, react with emojis, and share images; later this year Plex will add the ability to import lists from other platforms and allow reactions and comments on friends’ lists.
Match Score predicts how much a user might enjoy a title based on viewing habits and preferences. "It looks at the things you watch and the way you rate them, and turns that into a simple percentage that tells you how closely a title lines up with what you tend to enjoy," Scott Olechowski said.
