Persona 6 teaser hints at darker, more psychological direction
Nearly 10 years after Persona 5, developer Atlus confirmed Persona 6 during Sunday's Xbox showcase. The announcement came with no release date, and the game will arrive on both PlayStation and Xbox consoles, a shift for a subseries that has largely been PlayStation-exclusive.
The teaser offered scant footage: a graveyard of headstones, a headless statue at the center, and a man's hand reaching toward it. When he touches the statue he sees colorful flashes that resemble blood pumping through veins, an image that calls to mind the Nine Inch Nails "Closer" video and the Twilight: Breaking Dawn transformation scene.
The brief clip leans toward a darker, more psychological tone, evoking the series's grittier, mature roots and contrasting with the high-school hijinks of recent entries. The trailer also confirmed green as the game's primary color, following Persona 3's blue, Persona 4's yellow and Persona 5's red.
