Penny Lane Is Dead is a blackly comedic horror film set to debut at Fantasia Fest in Montreal this summer. The feature marks the directorial and screenwriting debut of Mia'Kate Russell, who has previously directed several acclaimed short films. A new poster spotlights the cast in various stages of mania as an ominous figure lumbers toward a beach house holding a woman, unconscious or dead, evoking classic horror imagery.

Set in the summer of 1986, the story follows Penny Lane (Bailey Spalding) celebrating her admission to university with friends Toni (Tahlee Fereday) and Amy (Alexandra Jensen). Cousin Kat (Sophia Wright-Mendelsohn), who brings drugged cupcakes and her psycho boyfriend Angus (Ben O'Toole), arrives with a pack of assorted weirdos and turns the trip into an orgy of blood, violence, and depravity.

But is Penny Lane dead? The cast also includes Fletcher Humphrys, Steve Le Marquand, and Matthew O'Sullivan.
