PearOS pursues Liquid Glass look for Linux desktop
PearOS is aiming for a Liquid Glass-like desktop with its latest NiceCore release, which brings a new base, a new design and what the developer calls a 'Liquid Gel' aesthetic. Progress remains slow because the development effort is effectively a one-person project, and the distribution is far from ready for general use.
NiceCore is still based on Arch Linux and KDE Plasma, and the promised Soda desktop is listed as currently unavailable. The release includes a new installer and visible Liquid Gel elements; the desktop appears very Apple-like, with touches such as a Notch app, but it also feels unstable in its current state.
Installation proved dicey: the process refused to complete and landed on a default test account even after a user was created, with the new user's home directory present but logging into that account causing a reboot. The reviewer guessed this was due to attempting to install PearOS in a virtual machine.
