Following the success of last year’s The Housemaid, which earned $400 million worldwide, a film adaptation of Freida McFadden’s sequel The Housemaid’s Secret is moving forward. Sydney Sweeney will return as Millie, joined again by director Paul Feig, writer Rebecca Sonnenshine and co-star Michele Morrone.

Paul Anthony Kelly has been added to the cast and will play Douglas Garrick, Millie’s new boss; he is coming off acclaim for FX’s Love Story. Kirsten Dunst will play Douglas’ wife Wendy, who hired Millie knowing what she’s capable of. In the first film, Millie tries to start a new life after leaving prison when Nina Winchester (Amanda Seyfried) hires her as a live-in housemaid.

Nina’s erratic behavior and the intervention of her husband Andrew led to a fraught relationship that ended with Andrew falling down a flight of stairs and being ruled an accidental death, after which Millie pursued work in a new household.
