Path of Exile 2 lead designer and co-game director Mark Roberts says the Vaal Temple farming exploit "ruined" his Christmas, left him traumatised, and made him keen to see it neutered. The temple snaking tactic from the Fate of the Vaal league became a persistent problem while Roberts spent his 2025 holiday season identifying exploits, applying balance fixes and trying to protect the in-game economy.

During an interview with PoE creator Zizaran, Roberts noted, "I know we nerfed it recently... The Temple ruined Christmas for me." Midway through the chat Zizaran reported that "people have broken the Temple again," and Roberts and co-director Jonathan Rogers later received word from GGG homebase that there was a "T1 issue with the Temple," prompting shared laughter.

Roberts added, "The amount of joy I can get out of just going and obliterating the Temple right now, trust me. I don't care if it's a mid-league nerf." He qualified that stance with, "I'm being extreme.
