Path of Exile 2 player deletes level 100 character to become first martyr
Late last week one of the highest-level Path of Exile 2 players discovered a mysterious chamber added in the Return of the Ancients update. The streamer Carn had spent most of the league grinding to reach level 100, then chose to enter after seeing a popup that asked, "Your strength is unquestioned.
Your resolve, unbreakable. Are you ready, Martyr?" and warned the act would permanently destroy his character. When Carn went in, the game's UI faded as his character was lowered into the ground and the screen flashed white. He returned to the character selection screen to find his warrior grayed out and his name atop the leaderboards as the "Martyr of the First Edict." He joked, "You shall now refer to me as the Martyr of the First Edict.
I saved you all." On a second character he found a glowing orb where the chamber had been, offering the option to "Claim a mote of the Martyr's Power." Taking it granted a free extra skill tree point, and trying it on a third character made clear the sacrifice had unlocked that point for all players.
