A BBC report published Saturday found that in 2020 Buckingham Palace received 30,000 emails showing that Andrew had shared protected government information while serving as a trade envoy. The emails, taken from a personal business contact, were handed to the Lord Chamberlain, the royal household's most senior officer, and the Palace held on to them for six years.

Andrew was arrested in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office for allegedly forwarding confidential trade documents to the late Jeffrey Epstein; he has denied the accusations. He was arrested on Feb. 19, his 66th birthday. Jess Michaels, an Epstein victim and former dancer, told the Telegraph that the Palace protected Andrew and "sat on it," saying "Six years ago, the Palace knew Andrew wasn’t just a problem; he could face a criminal investigation.
