Owen urges Rio Ngumoha to stay at Liverpool to continue development

Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho boosted their profiles after leaving their initial clubs, thriving by stepping out of their comfort zones. Observers have wondered whether Rio Ngumoha could take a similar path.

Michael Owen notes many players who moved had been struggling for game time; Bellingham went from Birmingham, while Sancho had limited chances at City. He says Rio is already at 'an unbelievable club', getting opportunities and developing well, so there is no reason to be thinking about a move.

Owen adds that this season will be important: Ngumoha received more chances last year mainly because Cody Gakpo underperformed, and he did 'quite well' when called upon. Still young and with plenty to learn, Ngumoha may play more depending on his form and Gakpo's, but he is not yet ready to be viewed as the automatic first name on a Liverpool or Bayern Munich team sheet.
