Shion, the newest flanker and a gangster robot, has been a real challenge for me. I thought I knew what to expect after seeing the kit demo — I’ve been maining flankers all year and have had success with heroes like Vendetta, Ashe, Cassidy and Sojourn — but in matches my accuracy has never been so low and I’m dying two or three times as often.

Her kit asks for both movement and precision. Primary fire works best at close to mid range with heavy fall-off; the secondary, Execution, fires an X-shaped spread that tightens the longer you charge it; mobility comes from sideways dashes and a temporary overhealth that quickly decays; she can ride a motorcycle and detonate it; and her ultimate is a dash that delivers strikes or burst attacks.

The first time I used the ultimate outside practice I dashed into a wall without damaging anyone and got run over by the opposing team’s D.Va. Shion isn’t like other flankers.
