Indie developer Shapefarm's co-op game Orbitals will be released on Sept. 3 as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, revealed during a Nintendo Direct presentation. The new trailer highlights cooperative play and rhythm minigames. Players must work together to progress through levels and complete rhythm-based challenges.

The game supports local play via GameShare on two Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, and the trailer shows GameShare being used on an original Nintendo Switch as well. You and a partner play space explorers who venture through a cosmic storm to save their space station home.

The co-op design draws comparisons with Hazelight's It Takes Two and Split Fiction; director Jakob Lundgren said he aimed to bring similar design and co-op philosophies while ensuring Orbitals keeps its own identity. Orbitals was first shown at The Game Awards last year and reappeared at February's Nintendo Switch 2 Partner Showcase before this release-date announcement.
