Omio builds conversational travel with real-time AI

Omio is rethinking how people discover and book journeys by moving from search to conversation. The multimodal travel platform connects millions of travelers with trains, buses, ferries and flights, working with more than 3,000 transportation providers across 47 countries, and is using conversational AI to simplify trip planning.

As an early OpenAI customer, Omio launched one of the first travel experiences on ChatGPT in 2023, linking models directly to live transportation inventory and booking systems. Travelers can ask natural-language questions such as “What’s the fastest route from Rome to Florence?” or “Should I take a train or flight from Paris to Barcelona?” and receive grounded, bookable options that draw on real-time pricing and availability.

Behind the customer-facing work, Omio has transformed internal operations by rolling out ChatGPT companywide and embedding Codex into engineering workflows. “We rolled out ChatGPT. That was a teaser. Codex is where the real work gets done,” says CTO Tomas Vocetka.
