OG Baldur’s Gate Game Gets First Major Update in 14 Years
Beamdog has issued a substantial new patch for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition. Labeled Version 2.7, the update is the first major patch for these Infinity Engine titles in roughly 14 years and focuses on modernizing the experience rather than adding new content.
Key changes include native Apple Silicon support for improved performance, faster launch times and reduced power use on laptops. Cloud saves are now managed via the Steam client and GOG Galaxy cloud saves received fixes. The patch also adds several quality-of-life improvements: new community-translated languages, better mobile keyboard behavior on iOS and Android, expanded mobile modding support, and Android fixes for foldable devices, character exports and DLC recognition.
Additional updates restore the iOS “Restore Purchases” button, change the Chinese font at volunteers’ request, save font-size settings per language, and introduce dynamic language support and an indexing fix.
