When Prime Video confirmed Season 2 would center on Dean Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes rather than following the book order to Logan and Grace, some fans objected. Showrunner Louisa Levy had quietly spent Season 1 building the case that the novels’ sequence wouldn’t translate directly to the series, and the first season’s storytelling makes that argument clear.

Season 1 was marketed as Hannah and Garrett’s story and delivered that happily-ever-after, drawing 36 million viewers worldwide in the show’s first 12 days. At the same time, the series threaded a Dean-and-Allie romance through the background: Allie catches Dean’s eye by Episode 2, their dynamic shifts after she breaks up with Sean, and by the twist at the end of Episode 5 they’ve been secretly involved.

Episode 6 rewinds to show how it began, and the finale leaves the couple’s situation unresolved after Allie reveals she slept with Hunter Davenport and Dean reacts with a brawl as the credits roll.
