Nintendo closed its June 9 Direct with a brief teaser that did little more than confirm long-running rumors of a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Switch 2. The single image of Link as a child and the references to the Deku Tree and Kokiri people offered an emotive moment, but no real answers.

Ocarina of Time is treated as a sacred, epoch-making work in the medium, and that status makes a full remake especially high-stakes. Unlike 2011’s Ocarina of Time 3D, which was a gentle visual upgrade that left the original mechanics intact, a full modernization raises dozens of questions about art style, voice acting, level design, interface and controls, camera behavior and even small mechanical details like switching boots in the Water Temple.

The Ocarina of Time remake is a 2026 release, which means Nintendo has the answers to all these questions already and could have shown much more.
