Intercontinental Exchange CEO Jeffrey Sprecher told a Bernstein conference he is urging regulators to allow regulated exchanges to offer 24/7 onchain perpetual futures, calling for a "level playing field" and saying regulators are "prohibiting us from doing this when it's already happening." He said ICE held multiple exploratory discussions with decentralized exchange Hyperliquid to "learn" more about onchain perps.

Traditional finance firms are increasingly exploring ways to enable round‑the‑clock trading via blockchain rails after Hyperliquid’s rapid growth. A week earlier, OKX said it will introduce perpetual futures based on ICE’s Brent crude and West Texas Intermediate benchmarks, the first initiative under a broader ICE‑OKX partnership after ICE invested in OKX at a $25 billion valuation in March.

Earlier in March, the NYSE partnered with tokenization platform Securitize to develop blockchain‑based stock trading infrastructure aimed at 24/7 trading and settlement.
