As reports swirl about major layoffs at Microsoft-owned studios, several developers at Compulsion Games have signalled they're seeking new jobs, posting "open to work" notices on LinkedIn. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier wrote on Reddit that studio leadership allowed employees to look for work because layoffs were likely.

Principal level designer Mike Sklavounos called the development "an unexpected turn of events." Eurogamer says at least a dozen Compulsion staff have indicated they're looking for new roles, a notable share for a studio of roughly 90 people. The spike in staff seeking work has reinforced fears that a wider round of cuts at Xbox could be imminent.

Earlier reports named Double Fine, Ninja Theory and several other studios as at risk under an "Xbox Reset" overseen by CEO Asha Sharma and CCO Matt Booty; in an open letter the pair said Microsoft had "over extended" itself with recent acquisitions. Current expectations point to layoffs being imposed in early July after Microsoft's fiscal year ends on June 30.
