Universal Pictures has canceled planned advanced screenings for social media influencers of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. The studio will instead screen the film only for critics following its world premiere in London. Influencer-led previews have become a common part of modern marketing, with some creators posting early reactions before critics.

Universal's decision comes as the film has already generated strong pre-release momentum: record-breaking trailers, theater-exclusive previews and sold-out tickets for premium formats, including IMAX 70mm. Based on Homer's poem, The Odyssey has been described as Nolan's most ambitious project.

The $250 million production prioritized shooting on location and using practical effects, and cast members such as Tom Holland and Matt Damon have praised the film, with Holland calling it a "masterpiece" and Damon saying it was the toughest job of his career.
