Nobody: A Fun, Fierce Alternative to John Wick
Bob Odenkirk's career has moved from sketch comedy on HBO's Mr. Show to acclaimed dramatic turns on Better Call Saul, Lincoln, The Post and Nebraska. He then transformed into a one-man action hero in the two-part Nobody films, written by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad.
Where John Wick 4 runs 169 minutes and leans into long, repetitive shootouts, Nobody favors mordant humor and brisk pacing. The first film runs 92 minutes and its sequel 89, compared with John Wick 4's 169 minutes — a contrast summed up as "half as short and twice as strong." Standout set pieces include a brutal bus-bashing in the first film and a duck-boat fight in the sequel.
Odenkirk performed most of his own stunts after bulking up, and the films mix violent choreography with slapstick touches, memorable one-liners and inventive use of surroundings, from arcade hammers to life jackets, anchors and fire extinguishers.
