Nintendo fixes Switch eShop with update 22.5.0
Nintendo released update 22.5.0 for the original Switch on June 15, and it significantly improves the eShop experience. Navigation and loading are noticeably faster, making the digital store easier to use than it was before.
The eShop now behaves more like a native app rather than a browser-powered interface, which makes scrolling and responsiveness much better. The store also supports dark mode when the console theme is set to Basic Dark.
The update redesigns the eShop layout, adds user-verification PINs for accessing the eShop and using saved payment methods, and lets users rewind or advance 10 seconds with the ZL and ZR buttons when watching full-screen videos in News or the eShop. General system stability improvements are included as well.
It isn’t a perfect overhaul—the eShop still contains some of the same clutter, and it isn’t quite as snappy as the Switch 2’s store—but overall browsing and scrolling are a clear step up.
